♪ >> there's breaking news at 11:00 o'clock night. a three year old child is shot and killed. one of four victims caught in gunfire in the grays ferry section of physical. this all happened a little more than an hour ago in the 1500 block of south edding street. you see it an your map. again, the child three year old shot there along with four

others. this is video from the scene right now. these are investigators moving through the streets looking for suspects. none of whom have been arrested at that is point but again the child actually one of three so a child and three adults shot in this gunfire tonight. we know the child was immediately taken from the scene to children's hospital of philadelphia but win about an hour that child was pronounced dead there. the three adults we know have been transferred at least two have been taken to hup where one is said to be in critical condition at after being shot in the head. the conditions of the others we do not know at this point but this is chopper three video over the scene near 27th and tasker again in the grays ferry section of philadelphia. there have been no arrests made in this violence tonight. but philadelphia police are actively searching for gunmen we don't know what led to this violence as well but we're continuing to follow developments. we'll bring you the latest throughout the night here on "eyewitness news".

also, we have our eye on the storm night. heavy rain is moving in and it's causing some can't for flooding. our meteorologist indicate bilo is in for kathy. she's tracking what is shaping up to be a pretty soggy week glenn kate. >> we've been dealing with heavy downpours all afternoon and evening. and now we're seeing the heaviest rain down the shore and that's where this heaviest batch will continue to fall through the overnight hours and into tomorrow morning. mainly from i-95 on east. you can see an area of heavy rain down who are across portions of eastern maryland and virginia. poised to move into delaware and that will all lift up through the shore minutes during the overnight hours and into the early part of our saturday as well the heaviest right now moving into southern cape may county from cape may point, cape may courthouse towards stone harbor and avalon at the mommy seeing pretty steady rainfall. a hole lot where this is coming from. more rain lifting from the south this batch going to miss us out to sea that's good news. but the rain you see here will continue to impact the area during the overnight and early morning hours.

so again timing it out we've got rain overnight, you can see 4am still dealing with rain especially from the city on toward the shore. this continues through five, 6:00 o'clock tomorrow morning. by about zen clock we start to see some of this move out. notice that noon we're still dealing with rain down the shore but then perhaps little bit of drying tomorrow afternoon where showers become a bit more scattered we may even see a break of sunshine or two in the afternoon or evening tomorrow and then on sunday, we get another round of wet weather. what to expect overnight heavy rain moves in south to north with instead yesterday downpours along the coast one to 2-inches of rain in spots with imbedded thunder especially at the coast but more for sunday. more in bit. get up the updated forecast any time with the new cbs-3 weather app. share any storm pictures with us download that app now on i tunes. it is coming soon to an aide droid. >> kate, thank you very much. more on breaking news now. let's go down to grays ferry our natasha brown is standing by with the very latest on the violence there tonight that has

claim the life of a 384 old child. natasha? >> reporter: very sad scene as you can imagine here in the 1500 block of south etting street. quadruple shooting that happened here along this block. we're here with captain gormley he's going to give us the very latest on what precipitated the violence here tonight. >> was can you tell us. 9:40 p.m. an argument between two males in the mill of the block much as the argument was breaking up one of the males walk away. the other male pulled out a weapon and handgun and fired some shots. he struck the mail in the head. he also struck two people that were standing on the block with graze wounds in the arm. a mail an female 28 year old female, 21 year old male. also there was a three year old girl who was sitting on the porch. she was struck one time in the chest. unfortunately, the three year old passed. the other people are in stable

condition. the first male that was involved in the argument he's in serious condition -- seriously critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head. >> reporter: suspects at this point? >> there was one male stopped in the area. we're not sure if he's the offender but he is a person of interest at this time. >> reporter: another what appears to be an active senseless violent another child was caught up in this. >> it's a tragedy. when anything like this happens. >> reporter: thank you so much for your time captain gormley. we appreciate that. we of course will stay on top of the very latest as the search for other evidence in many case unfolds. again, one suspect has been taken in to custody. four people caught up in this violence here in the grays ferry area including a three year old little girl who was pronounced dead at 10:21 apparently the victim of a stray bullet in someone else's argument natasha brown, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> heartbreaking news from there tonight. natasha, thank you very much. we'll keep to date. developing a search is underway

for two bodies believed to be buried in a delaware county park. murder suspect reportedly led upper darby police to indian rock park in springfield this afternoon. he had told them he had stabbed a man and a woman to death in his apartment two years ago. dismember their bodies and then buried their remains in this park. >> tonight, we tried to hand dig our where he claim the bodies were located and we weren't able to get through the dirt. so we called in an upper darby front end loader and we were able to dig. >> police found nothing today but they will continue that search tomorrow. developing news tonight, a boater once thought to have gone missing in boating accident may actually be on the run. "eyewitness news" reporter todd equip nope tells us why investigators in atlantic county are so suspicious. >> reporter: we are now learning that bittle is facing a criminal investigation and

authorities believe he may be alive and may be trying to run away from police. 45 year old andrew bittle was last thought to have gone missing in the watering off long part. rescue attempts by the coast guard turned up nothing. after bittle a boat racing champion was thought to have crashed a pontoon boat into a buoy. passenger on that boat swam to shore telling authorities he didn't know what happened to bittle. that was nearly two week ago. now, authorities confirm the egg harbor township police department is circulating a flyer to law enforcement because they are investigating that bittle may have not been on that pontoon boat meaning he may have staged his own disappearance. >> he's actually a really nice guy. >> frank work with bittle at this marina in north feel. he's not buying the accident may have been staged. >> i don't think he could have disappear or anything like that. i don't think he did that. i really think he's missing. >> reporter: the atlantic county prosecutor' office tells "eyewitness news" bittle and his partner are accused of several counts of theft for allegedly

taking possession of boats in trade then reselling them and not paying off the loans. and that bittle was indicted on three counts of the theft by deception and there are additional open cases pending grand jury review for bittle. police here are urging anyone who may have seen bittle recently to contact them immediately. reporting from egg harbor township, new jersey, todd quinones cbs-3 "eyewitness new news". >> tomorrow the first of two american missionaries infected with the ebola virus will arrive in the united states for treatment. dr. kent brantly and nancy were both infected while doing charity work in liberia. they will be treated at emory hospital in at land tam this is the first ebola patients have come to the u.s. and that is causing concern. south the out brac has been blamed for more than seven hadn't doctor deaths in west of a forty three a members of the group yes liberia based in delaware have close ties to that country and they're feeling the

>> we now know an art -- an argument between two men led to a deadly shooting in the grays ferry second of philadelphia tonight. three year old girl was killed there. she was shot in the chest as she sat on porch in the 1500 block of etting street. a man is in critical condition after being shot in the head there. another man was shot in the arm and a woman in the leg in many violence that broke out just before 10:00 o'clock tonight. we're told police do have a man in custody.

well late tonight the congress approved a $225 million package for israel's missile defense system. that move comes after a cease fire between israel and hamas lasted all of two hours. the united nations says it was hamas who violated that agreement. officials in israel say two soldiers died and a third was abducted today. president obama has demanded the immediate unconditional release of that soldier. >> we would never see scenes from war zone if not for the brave men and women who choose to walk into battle armed only with cameras and laptops. and one such person workshere a. it is rare that we tell stories about one of our own but tonight we're going to make an exception because we think you'll admire the extraordinary journey of our friend a near. a journey of courage, of family and sacrifice. it began on the streets of war torn baghdad and it continues right here in philadelphia. ♪

pennsylvania. it was quiet, small, and safe. all it lacked was job for a war photographer. so he found other work, first at a chicken processing plant. and later as a school custodian. >> it was nice experience but this is not me. i don't want to do that. i am a cameraman. >> reporter: word of his story eventually reached philadelphia. and in august of last year, he received a phone call from cbs cbs-3. the station needed a cameraman and it wanted ather. it's something that still moves him today. >> it's a great thing really it is. difficult to -- to express. this is me. i find myself with the camera. >> for the past year he's captured news around the delaware valley. commuting at first from lancaster then moving his family to collegeville, montgomery county.

anyone who is selling used games in philadelphia's stores will have to pro void a fingerprint. now the new policy does not fly to game stop stores in the suburb much the chain is following philadelphia law that allows the store to collect thumb prints which go no a database all to help police track down thieves who trytolen. >> today's technical issues with facebook had some users so concerned that they called 911. the social networking site was down for about an hour today. the crash caused a flood of calls to the la county sheriff's department. in fact deputy took to twitter to plead with people to stop calling because of facebook outage is not considered an energy. well, turning now to weather. let's take you down to the ocean city boardwalk where you can see we're not seeing the amount of lights we normally see at this time of night. we usually have the rides going in the background here. there are still in folks out walking and the lights are still on but it is wet. you kind of see the gleam of rain drops on the boardwalk out

there tonight. as wet weather moves up the coast. let's take look at storm can three you can see where the heaviest the rain is and notice what's still to come as this all lifts to the north. we're seeing in pretty steady rain across parts of eastern virginia and those yellow shaded areas will start to move into portions of delaware and eventually south jersey during the overnight hours so it's going to wet night down the shore. steady rain across much of the cape may county down into sussex and kent counties in delaware and start to go intensifying where you see that yellow an indication where the heaviest rain is falling. heaviest will stay down the shore mainly i-95 east. but we will have more chances of rain all weekend long. temperatures in the upper 60 toss low 70s across the area tonight. rain cooled air in the wake of the showers and storms we dealt with earlier today. and you can see tomorrow 5am seeing rain especially from the city on east. some heavy rain down the shore. that then lifts out we may see clearing tomorrow afternoon and evening. you'll be dodging showers all

day but they're scattered and by 6:00 p.m. not too bad. if you want to sneak out and get outdoor plans it look like tomorrow evening might be your best shot. and then into sunday morning. the drier weather continues watch what happens by sunday afternoon by noon we see another round of rain impact the area heavy rain at times throughout sunday afternoon and evening. and perhaps some showers even lingering into early monday morning. so we're talking about over an inch of rain through the overnight hours down the shore and this will continue to grow these numbers blossom as we head into sunday night and monday. with some spots especially along the coast checking in with over 2-inches. i do want to briefly show you tropical storm bertha. bertha moving through the lesser antilles at the mommy. bertha will continue its trajectory now expected to briefly strengthen to hurricane strength before then nothing back to tropical storm you can see the curvature of this storm will take it away from the east coast of the united states it will be pick up by an advancing front and should not bring us any problems but we'll keep a very close eye on it as always.
